Educate yourself to avoid costly maintenance fees this summer
| July 21, 2011 |
There are few things better than heading out for a mid-summer road trip, but if your car is not up to the task, the excursion could be short lived. However, AutoMD.com recently offered a few maintenance tips to ensure that your ride can make it there and back again, where ever there might be.
One of the most common misconceptions about cars is that they need regular tune-ups performed by mechanics. Instead of spending money on these costly, and unnecessary trips, experts suggest simply performing preventative maintenance yourself. Specifically, regularly replacing the air filter and inspecting the drive belts can ensure your car is ready to go.
In addition to regularly checking up on certain parts, experts suggest familiarizing oneself with what each dashboard light represents. By being aware of what the signal could indicate, it can save you time and money when looking to fix it.
"At AutoMD.com, we believe that when consumers become more educated about how and when to service their car, this can translate into savings at the repair shop," said Brian Hafer, VP of Marketing for AutoMD.com.
